If you’ve built substantial wealth, capital gains taxes may quietly erode far more of your investment returns than you realize. The good news? The tax code offers legitimate ways to potentially help minimize that bill — if you know where to look.
This could be why many investors may work with a financial advisor to help integrate proactive tax planning into their broader wealth management and preservation strategy. Take SmartAsset's free quiz to find vetted financial advisors who may be able to help. Get your financial advisor matches today.
Rate Cut Rethink — Central banks are reconsidering rate cuts as growth and inflation impacts become clearer. The Fed and BoE eye cautious moves, & the ECB might hold steady.
Economic Approval Plummets — President Trump's approval on the economy hits a low at 31%. 68% see the economy as poor, & inflation and affordability dampen holiday spending.
Oil Prices Slide — Oil prices dropped amid U.S.-Venezuelan tensions and potential Ukraine peace talks. Venezuelan exports fell due to sanctions, while China's economic slowdown suggests an oil surplus.
Bond Market Buzz — The corporate-bond market is seeing a temporary boost as spreads hit historic lows. Optimism reigns, but concerns grow over underlying risks.
GOP's AI Dilemma — California Governor Gavin Newsom has criticized Trump's AI executive order. And, Republican consultants are seeking an anti-AI candidate to challenge Vance, labeling him as tech-aligned and a threat to jobs and well-being.
AI Legislation Surge — States have proposed 250+ AI-related bills in healthcare across 47 states, tackling chatbot regulations and insurer practices.

Tesla’s recent moves show a company shifting from promises to visible execution. Unsupervised Tesla robotaxis are finally driving the public streets with no safety driver or monitor onboard and no costly LiDAR tech. At the same time, FSD V14.2.1.25 introduces xAI Grok Voice, allowing passengers to speak directly to the car and change destinations in real time. Together, these updates mark a clear step toward large scale autonomy that is already operating in the real world.
This matters because Tesla’s long-term plan depends on many systems reinforcing each other. Robotaxis, humanoid robots, custom AI chips, and space infrastructure are no longer separate projects. They are becoming parts of one system that learns, scales, and compounds.
Austin has become Tesla’s most important autonomy lab. The city’s regulatory environment allows faster experimentation than California, and Tesla has steadily reduced human oversight. What began as supervised rides for invited users has now reached a stage where vehicles operate with no occupants at all.
This shift is critical. Removing safety drivers cuts operating costs and allows Tesla to test how the system behaves continuously, not just during controlled demos. Even a fleet of 25 to 60 vehicles can generate huge volumes of driving data running 24/7.
Tesla’s messaging hints at rapid expansion. The company’s official account described the rollout as “slowly, then all at once.” That phrase aligns with how software products often scale once core systems prove reliable.
The addition of voice-based FSD powered by xAI Grok may seem small compared to full autonomy, but it plays an important role. Many people struggle with apps or complex interfaces. Speaking to a robotaxi lowers that barrier.
Passengers can now give directions verbally, correct mistakes, or reroute mid-trip. For older users, tourists, or anyone uncomfortable with screens, this makes the service easier to use. It also pushes Tesla closer to treating its vehicles as interactive agents rather than machines that follow rigid commands. This voice layer will likely carry over to future products, including humanoid robots and home devices.
Tesla’s autonomy strategy depends on data volume and variety. Every mile driven feeds its neural networks with examples of real traffic, weather, road layouts, and human behavior. With millions of cars already on the road, Tesla has access to a training stream that few competitors can match.
Unsupervised robotaxis increase the quality of that data. The system must handle edge cases without human correction. Each success and failure becomes part of the learning loop.
Competitors like Waymo focus on smaller, highly mapped areas and rely heavily on LiDAR. That approach has produced impressive safety records and last week they hit around 450,000 paid rides per week, but scaling it city by city is slow and expensive.
In November, Elon Musk stated that Tesla aims to surpass rivals in AI chip production, with new designs every year. Tesla already deploys its own silicon in vehicles and data centers. Upcoming AI5 and AI6 chips are expected to increase performance while lowering cost per inference.
Tesla works with Samsung and TSMC, and has discussed possible collaboration with Intel. Reports from Korea suggest Musk is closely involved with Samsung’s US chip facility to the point of having an office on-site, signaling how central semiconductors have become to Tesla’s future.
Long term goals include chip volumes in the 100B to 200B range annually, supporting cars, robots, and training clusters. Control over hardware allows Tesla to tune its software tightly to the silicon it runs on.
Tesla’s Optimus robot uses many of the same systems as FSD. Vision models, object recognition, planning, and decision making all come from the same research pipeline. Progress in driving feeds progress in robotics.
As AI improves at understanding 3D space and predicting outcomes, robots become more capable in factories, warehouses, and eventually homes. Many researchers expect 2026 to mark a turning point for embodied AI, where digital intelligence reliably controls physical machines via 3D World Models. If Tesla succeeds, it could address labor shortages and open markets far larger than automotive.
At the same time, SpaceX is approaching a potential IPO in 2026, with private valuations around $800B and speculation reaching higher. Most of SpaceX’s revenue comes from Starlink, which provides global connectivity.
Starlink supports Tesla’s ecosystem by offering low latency communication for vehicles and robots in remote areas. Capital from an IPO could fund further expansion of satellites and launch capacity, strengthening Musk’s broader infrastructure base.
Musk’s estimated 42% stake in SpaceX already outweighs his Tesla holdings, showing how interconnected these ventures have become financially.
Analysts like Wedbush’s Dan Ives remain bullish on TSLA, maintaining an OUTPERFORM rating and a $600 price target in a recent TSLA investor note.
The competitive field is shifting. Ford has just canceled the all electric F-150 Lightning, signaling retreat rather than acceleration. Luminar, once a major LiDAR supplier, has just filed for bankruptcy. Rivian is developing its own “RAP” autonomy chip and has hinted at robotaxi ambitions too, but it remains years behind in scale.
Tesla’s advantage is integration. Vehicles, chips, data centers, robots, and space networks reinforce each other. Market projections increasingly reflect this as analysts focus on autonomy revenue, robotics services, and AI infrastructure as well as car sales.
The flywheel is visible. Each turn makes the next one easier. For Tesla, this week may be remembered as the time that momentum finally became impossible to ignore.
"We believe Tesla could reach a $2T market cap over the coming year and in a bull case scenario $3T by the end of 2026.”
